Simmons Homes Receives 2008 Energy Star Leadership in Housing Award
Tulsa, OK (Vocus) June 21, 2008 -- Simmons Homes is pleased to announce that it has been recognized by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a 2008 Energy Star Leader in housing award. This award recognizes the important contribution that our organization has made to energy-efficient construction and environmental protection by building Energy Star qualified homes last year. Collectively, these homes save customers, on average $447 per year in utility bills each year.
Homes that earn the Energy Star meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the EPA. Energy Star qualified homes are at least 15 percent more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code, and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20%-30% more efficient than standard homes. Energy Star qualified homes can include a variety of energy-efficient features, such as effective insulation, high performance windows, tight construction and ducts, efficient heating and cooling equipment, and Energy Star qualified lighting and appliances.
Simmons Homes was founded by Greg Simmons and Pete Kourtis in 1994. Today, it is the Tulsa's area's premier home builder with a reputation for providing architectural innovation, tremendous quality, superior customer service and an unmatched customer aftercare program.
